989 Market

onceived as an open plan with collaborative workspace and workstations adjacent to the windows, this 15,000 square foot architecture office in downtown San Francisco focuses the shared conference and support spaces to the center. A large conference room is equipped with a custom sliding partition providing expansion into the gallery area while also creating acoustic separation. Social spaces are open and visually connected, allowing for impromptu gatherings and design discussions.

Meditation Chapel

The California Pacific Medical Center Chapel located at the Pacific Campus is a 250 square foot non-denominational meditation space to serve the hospital’s patients and their family members. Envisioned as a place of contemplation, the design was inspired by the transitional process of portal, passage and sanctuary common in many worshipping practices. At the entry, a composition of art glass and water stimulate the senses and provide a threshold from the sterility and chaos of a hospital environment. The circle, a pure geometrical form, is interpreted into a truncated cylinder symbolizing the infinite nature of spirituality while creating a sanctuary for reflection.
